Food Services Manager – Camp Homewood

Position Title: Food Services Manager
Reports To: General Director
Positions Supervised: Cook II, Interns, Volunteers
Remuneration: On site housing and base salary to be determined by the Board. This is a full time missionary position and requires raising personal support.

Position Overview:
The Food Service Manager functions as Camp Homewood’s Head Cook. S/he directs the overall operation of Food Services including: customer service; personnel management; menu planning; purchasing, receiving and storing food; food preparation and presentation; cleaning, sanitation, and record keeping. The FS Manager will work cooperatively with all members of Homewood’s staff team to bring glory to God through his/her work, attitudes and activities.

The FS Manager is responsible for building a team that strives for excellence in the preparation and presentation of appealing, well balanced and nutritional meals for groups of 30 – 280 people. Food is to be served on schedule and at its peak. Working to deadlines is critically important! This individual is part of a team committed to building the Kingdom of God. Camp Homewood’s ministry is relational. Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and
staff. Staff must be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college age young people who serve at camp. Responsibilities are to be carried out in a way that will honour Jesus Christ and comply with the Pacific Coast Children’s Mission’s Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.

This position is physically demanding and the hours are long. Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds and work on their feet for an 8-hour shift. The intensity and focus of this position varies seasonally, and is not a typical ‘9:00 – 5:00’ job. This position will be expected to lead shifts. Weekend work is normal. The Food Services department serves approximately 40,000 meals during the summer camping season and approximately 40,000 meals during the ‘off-season’.

Camp Director - Ootsa Lake Bible Camp, Grassy Plains, BC

Ootsa Lake Bible Camp is located in beautiful central British Columbia.  This rustic camp is situated right on the shores of beautiful Ootsa Lake.  OLBC is looking for a dynamic and energetic camp director.  The successful candidate will be able to start working part-time at the beginning of 2023.  They will be responsible for hiring staff and getting summer camps organized (with the help of the Board of Directors).  Three to four weeks of camp will necessitate full-time work.  Then wrap-up of camp and finishing tasks up will see the camp director back at part-time status.

 

The successful candidate will be able to subscribe to the Statement of Faith of OLBC (available on request). The candidate will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and will model biblical leadership to those for whom they are responsible. The candidate will desire to grow in spiritual character and establish biblical standards for all those who will be a part of the ministry of Ootsa Lake Bible Camp. The candidate will seek to uphold the integrity of the ministry of OLBC.

 

The successful candidate will have the ability to recruit, hire and train camp staff.

 

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

The Barn Manager is responsible for leading Homewood’s Ranch program and maintaining a high standard of safety and care for the guests, campers, and horses. This includes training staff, volunteers, and horses. The Barn Manager is committed to maintaining the health, overall well-being, and readiness of the horses for use in Homewood’s Ranch and riding programs. They will implement a safe, fun, and educational horse program in order to further the mission of Camp Homewood. The Barn Manager will seek to bring glory to God through their work, attitudes, and words. They will be a person of prayer, love, and celebration who depends upon Jesus and practices relational integrity.

The Barn Manager will demonstrate a desire and willingness to assist and support other members of Homewood’s staff team.
