BC Camp News

The BC Camping Conference is coming.

The BC Camping Conference is a linked conference co-sponsored by the BC Camping Association (BCCA) and the Fellowship of Christian Camps in BC (FCC).  Join 180 camping professionals from 50 member camps in BC, Alberta, and Washington and share knowledge, swap stories, network, and celebrate camping.  Enjoy live music throughout the week by Mike Edel, hear from relevant and challenging speakers, add important skills to your toolbox, and delight in some great food and friendship at the dinner table. This year’s conference will be held at Stillwood Camp & Conference Centre near Cultus Lake, BC.

Reminder: Changes to the BC Societies Act

As a society, your camp should have received information from BC Registry Services concerning changes to the BC Societies Act. Each society will need to take steps to transition to the provisions of the new Act by the date it comes into effect, November 28, 2016. If your society is considering changes to its purposes, bylaws or structure, this is an ideal time to do an update, as you will need to make changes in any case. Your legal firm may offer to explain and help you through this process; an example of this may be downloaded here (courtesy of De Jager Volkenant & Co Barristers and Solicitors, Surrey).

We would love to hear news about your camp!

Columbia Bible College: Camp Day

“Greetings from Columbia! We are just beginning to organize our 2017 Camp Day at Columbia Bible College and we would love if you could join us next year! We are planning on having camps attend CBC on Monday, January 30th from 11:00am - 1:15pm. We chose this date, as it is right after the Vancouver MissionsFest event, so if you are already attending MissionsFest hopefully you can extend your trip and come to CBC on the Monday. For those attending the BC Camping Conference, which also starts on January 30th, Stillwood Camp is quite close to Columbia, so we hope you will make us a stop on your way there.

“If you are interested in attending, please send me an e-mail with the following information: Camp Name / Contact Name / # Reps Attending / Camp Location / Email / Phone / Need Power?

“Based on the info you give me above, I will have tables set up for you when you arrive. Wi-Fi will also be available. If you require power, you will need to provide your own extension cords and power bars. This is a great event for CBC students to attend as many spend their summers working and volunteering at camps. We hope that we can help facilitate connections between your camps and our students. If you have any questions, please let me know.”
